NTIC & SOFTWARE Industries are crucial sectors in Eastern and Central Europe

2012 Priority is given to new communication technologies.

The software industry is one of the fastest growing IT Service and is a major contributor towards productivity. As a reference, Estonia is this year in the top Ten rank of the updated countries in the world for the use of NTIC.
Even if Eastern Europe has been in a state of turmoil in the past, these regions are now the best location for large and small companies to come and expand.

The Eastern European governments have furthermore come together to put a check on the software pirates which has boosted the growth of the sector and brought about some economic stability.
Further growth of the industry is being strongly forecast, bolstered by the reduced piracy, and projections claim that it would become the vanguard industry of the region.

Tradepartner Europe puts the focus in the NTIC market in 2012. It will grow three times faster than the Western European between 2007 and 2011.
The growing IT market encourages public sector IT decision makers to actively pursue the use of open-source software if these provide a lower cost alternative.

Eastern Europe will soon grow over 10 per cent of the total European Union IT market, as an influx of financing from European Union (EU) funds enables accession countries to finance technology projects to drive their economies forward.
